I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year. Teddy and I are back from our little break and prepared to have an amazing 2019. The end of 2018 was all about spreading joy and now 2019 is going to be all about finding joy. I am looking to find joy in the seemingly insignificant things in my every day life. It can be a hard thing to do sometimes, but it is always there waiting to be discovered. Are you willing to make the commitment with me to find joy in 2019? Lets do it!

In past blogs I have shared my struggle with anxiety throughout my lifetime. I used to HATE New Years. To me it meant the end of the fun holiday season, the end of another year that I wasn’t satisfied with, the start of the long cold winter months etc. etc. I really don’t know why I felt this way since my family went out of their way to make sure the holiday was special for us. It was a time for us to be together, have nice dinners, and just relax and enjoy each others company. Then when I hit my 20’s I thought I was finally old enough to go out and have a good time like everyone I saw on TV at the ball drops etc. I had a marathon of bad New Years Eve’s and decided to go back to just spending them with my family. To me, all of the hype just seemed extremely over rated. I kept saying to myself and others “I hate New Years!” What kind of attitude is that to kick off the start to a new year? I am only just now beginning to find joy in the anticipation for a new year.

Here are some things I have discovered about this new year so far that have me excited. Every single dog that was in my shelter before the holidays was adopted. That’s right! I’d say that’s a great way to start off 2019. Also it is the year of the pig, according to the Chinese, and apparently this is my year. In Chinese culture, the year of the pig is described as having good fortune and wealth. Not bad right? Also the color of the year is “living coral”. The color is described as life affirming, and fills you with warmth and nourishment. https://www.pantone.com/color-intelligence/color-of-the-year/color-of-the-year-2019 These are just a few fun facts to get you more excited about 2019.

I have a lot of goals for this year and in order to keep them front and center in my mind I got myself a bulletin board. I am going illustrate all of my goals for the year. I am a very visual person and it is my hope that this will keep me motivated, even when I wake up tired and cranky. Plus it sounds like a fun arts and craft project. One of my main goals this year is to get myself to Greece, yes the country! I would love to hear from you, my readers, about what your goals are for 2019. We can keep each other motivated.
